Work Starts on New B&M Distribution Centre
B&M has broken ground on its latest distribution hub, located in Wixams, Bedfordshire.
Kier Construction Central is building the distribution centre which will be 1 million sq ft in size. It is expected to create over 1,000 jobs and will open next year.
The site will have temperature controlled zones to house chilled and frozen stock.
B&M has four distribution centres located across the north west of England - Blackpool and Liverpool (Knowsley & Speke) - but the Bedford site is the first in the south.
B&M's sales revenue increased by 22.4% to £2,976.3m (2017: £2,430.7m) in its more recent results publication.

Simon Arora, chief executive of B&M Retail Ltd, said: "Our continued nationwide growth has allowed us to invest approximately £100m in what will be one of the largest distribution facilities in the UK.
"We are delighted to be coming to Bedford and will be recruiting in 2019 as the building approaches completion."
