Will Hilco Swoop on Bathstore?

Sky News has reported that Hilco, the private equity company which owns Homebase, is looking to acquire Bathstore.

On Wednesday of this week, it was reported that Bathstore was close to appointing administrators, with an announcement expected next week by accountancy firm BDO, which is understood to be in line to handle the potential administration process.

The report indicates that a small number of parties might have an interest in taking on a cut-down Bathstore business.

Hilco acquired Homebase in May 2018 after a disastrous spell of ownership by Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers, which bought the business in January 2016.

Sky News stated that neither Hilco nor BDO would comment on the matter and Bathstore could not be reached for comment.
