Wilko to take on former BHS store in Truro
Wilko has confirmed that it is to take over the former BHS store in Truro.
The two-storey store, which is located on Boscawen Street, is one of the largest retail outlets in the area. It has lain empty since BHS closed in July 2016.
Wilko has submitted a planning application to regenerate the store and put up signage.
Employees at the Timpson store next door to the building said that they knew that Wilko was interested in the site in November.
Steve Rosevear, branch manager, told local press: "We had heard Wilko was coming into the former BHS store although it not official. We heard it from one of the local property people.
"It's a large store and if Wilko do move in then it has got to be their biggest in Cornwall. I think it will be a good thing, it's got to be better than an empty shop, and will draw a lot more people into the town, just as Primark has."
