Deputy Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Robert Taylor officiated the launch with a ribbon cutting, the first customer received a bumper prize and the next fifty in the queue got their hands on a goody bag filled with top-rated wilko products to take home and enjoy.

The new wilko Rotherham at Parkgate Shopping houses everything you’d expect from wilko and more (20% more product lines actually). It offers customers all the essentials needed to get their home and garden jobs done – great value wilko own brand products alongside popular named brands.  Customers are also able to browse and order from the 100,000 items available on wilko.com using self-service terminals for home delivery.

Pick and mix is back alongside the welcome return of the National Lottery.

Shoppers can enjoy 20% off on arts & crafts supplies for Easter activities. Plus, take advantage of the exclusive discounts on garden furniture, perfect for enjoying spring sunshine in style.

The new store created 50 new jobs for the local area and when recruiting the team, ex-wilko employees have been prioritised.

The new store will deliver the very best of what wilko as a brand that people know, love and trust had to offer, including its advanced own-brand capabilities and digital marketplace, alongside the operational efficiencies of The Range, its buying expertise and infrastructure.

CEO of CDS Superstores, trading as The Range and wilko, Alex Simpkin said; “We’re overjoyed by the reaction of Rotherham locals to the new wilko store and we’re pleased to see that everyone is excited by wilko’s return to the UK high street.”

Janet Drury, Centre Manager of Parkgate Shopping added: “Team Parkgate feels really proud to be welcoming back one of the country’s first few reopened wilko stores. The brand has always been a great part of the wonderful mix of shopping experience on offer here at Parkgate and we share the customers joy at seeing its doors reopen to Rotherham shoppers. Welcome home, wilko – judging by the Rotherham community’s reaction today its clear everyone is glad to have you back.”

Following the recent re-launch of wilko.com and the announcement that wilko products are to be sold in The Range’s 200 stores, parent company CDS Superstores International which owns both The Range and wilko brands plans to reintroduce wilko stores across the UK with the roll-out continuing throughout 2024. And, for the first time in the brand’s history, wilko stores are planned for Northern Ireland.
