Wilko Creates New Company
Wilko has created a new company, Kin, to create and sell products into wilko as well as to other retailers.
On the 3rd February 2020, one of wilko's companies - Wilko Brands Limited - changed its name to Kin Brands Limited.
According to Companies House, Kin Brands Ltd is engaged in the provision of design, procurement, quality assurance and packaging services, to the wilko Group.
LinkedIn shows that Philippa McNamara has been the Brand Director at Kin Brands & Head of Brand Management at Wilko since May 2020, having previously been Head of Brand Management since August 2018.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to join our Kin team as a Senior Brand Manager based at our Support Centre in Worksop (although home working predominantly during the current climate). Kin is a brand new company selling excellent products not just to wilko but through other retailers too. It's a start up company which allows for entrepreneurial spirit and the chance to really make a difference but with the backing of a well established much loved brand, you guessed it wilko!
As our Senior Brand Manager you’ll work as part of the small but highly driven brand team for Kin developing from scratch the brand proposition and brand strategies for all channels over a 3 to 5 year horizon. This role isn't for those use to working with established brands, this is for those Brand Managers who can take an unknown product and make it a success through their commercial focus, market understanding and creative approach. You'll work on one of our fantastic product lines such as Garden, Tidy & Organise or Skin Therapy based on the experience you bring.
Taking huge pride in what you do, your role will involve analysing the brand, markets, competitors and consumer trends to develop and gain agreement for the short and long term strategic plan. As well as:
- Developing and maintaining brand metric's covering brand proposition, hierarchy, design, pricing, distribution, visual merchandising, promotional framework and communication.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation and creating compelling, commercially viable new concepts for the product development pipeline.
- Defining the product group ranging strategy including new listings and discontinuations, whilst influencing sourcing, procurement, quality and CSR initiatives to eliminate waste, maximise margin, quality and product availability.
- Managing every stage of the new product development cycle including research and development, testing, packaging development, promotional planning and launch activation, delivering each project on time and on budget.
- Building brand equity by providing direction to all brand communication activities and sharing the brand vision across the organisation and externally.
- Managing weekly and monthly reporting on the performance and brand health of each brand product group together with the status of major projects.
For this role we need someone who has a minimum of 5 years brand/product management experience, ideally in one of the categories this role will be involved in however this isn't essential. You'll be highly commercial with a strong consumer insight and analytical approach, actions based on data that during your career have produced excellent results. Being fluent in brand proposition, brand positioning, and product brand development you'll be comfortable liaising with a variety of stakeholders and external parties, bringing a high degree of maturity, confidence, and flexibility to respond to the opportunities within a dynamic, transforming business.
