Wickes to build new flagship store in Crawley
It has been reported that Wickes has been granted planning permission for a new, £3million flagship store in Crawley.
Work is expected to start on the site in September, and should be finished by spring 2017.
The store has been designed by The Harris Partnership and is understood to represent a "significant departure from the traditional Wickes store appearance", as it features curtain wall glazing and enhanced visibility into the showroom exhibits.
Parent company Travis Perkins announced plans to expand its store network in the UK to around 400 stores by 2020, and intends to roll out store developments to Wickes branches over the coming year.
So far, Wickes is understood to have built extensions and conducted refits on stores in Bognor Regis, Corby, Farnborough, Loughton and Stowmarket. The Harris Partnership has also worked on new store and refurbishment completions in Bridgwater, Luton, Newbury Retail Park and Winchester, according to Insider Media.
