Wickes Opens New Tottenham Store

Home improvement retailer, Wickes, celebrated the opening of its new-look store in Tottenham with a special launch weekend.

The Mayor of Tottenham, Councillor Sheila Peacock, attended the opening on Friday 25th October to officially cut the ribbon. There were also exclusive discounts, available to visitors to the store which ran from Friday to Sunday.

The new Wickes store features a brand-new kitchen and bathroom showroom to help customers plan their dream home. Expert Design Consultants are on hand to provide advice to customers who are undergoing transformation projects, together with providing a free design service. There’s also an in-store Dulux colour mixing service, as well as a wide range of new products from stylish flooring to gardening items, to help create the perfect space indoors and out.

Mark Reynolds Store Manager at Wickes, Tottenham comments: “The revamp of the Tottenham store has been designed to make shopping for home improvement projects simpler than ever before, with the new layout making it easier to find everything customers need in one trip. Visitors can look forward to inspirational room sets across kitchens and bathrooms, with a range of worktops, appliances and tiles on display.”

As part of the refurbishment, the Wickes store in Tottenham also supported the refit of community music and arts venue, The Jago. Fifteen students from nearby New City College worked with Wickes and social enterprise VIY (Volunteer It Yourself) as part of the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund. They helped renovate the building by refurbishing the toilets and building a community kitchen which will be used by local vegan and vegetarian cooks to sell their produce.

Following completion of this project, ten volunteers gained a City & Guilds accreditation in either painting and decorating or health and safety. The students from the project attended the store opening, along with colleagues from The Jago and VIY mentors from the project.
