Home improvement retailer Wickes has today opened a new store in Durham as part of the ongoing investment into its store estate. Located in the St Andrews Retail Park, Durham, the new development was officially opened by the Mayor, Cllr Lesley Mavin, and Mayoress Mrs Trish Sutcliffe, along with cricketers from Durham County Cricket Club, bowlers Brandon Glover and Stanley McAlinton, on 17th May 2024.

The new 20,360 sq. ft. space will offer a range of home improvement products for both trade professionals and customers looking to improve their own homes.

With a spacious mezzanine showroom, the store will feature a selection of new kitchens and a bathroom selection centre with new room sets to suit every budget and help customers plan their dream home. In addition, customers can utilise Wickes’ free design service, with expert advice from the store's Design Consultants, alongside Wickes’ trusted installation service.

The store also includes a paint mixing station, an outdoor project centre, five disabled parking spaces and three dedicated 30-minute Click & Collect spaces, to make the shopping process as easy as possible for all customers. Local shoppers can also benefit from delivery directly from the store to surrounding areas, with free delivery on orders over £85.

What’s more, the Durham store will be offering customers a 15% discount at checkout from the 24th May - 26th May.

Wickes Chief Property and Services Officer, Sarah Taitt, said: “As a digitally led, service-enabled retailer, we are thrilled to be opening a new Wickes store in Durham. The new store will offer residents of Durham and the surrounding areas a wide range of home improvement products, services, and expert advice from our knowledgeable staff, and we look forward to meeting our new customers on Friday 17th May”.

Alongside the launch, Wickes is pleased to announce a partnership with Durham Women FC. The new partnership will see the Wickes brand represented at the club’s Maiden Castle football pitch, as well as across its social media, throughout and ahead of the 2024/25 Barcaly’s Women’s Championship season.

The new store will also bring the Wickes Community Programme to the area, offering non-profit groups and organisations access to donations of tools and materials to help improve local spaces. As part of the programme the Durham store has already committed to helping projects in the local area- including Lumley Infant and Nursery School to improve their outdoor space.

The new store is located at Unit 6, St. Andrews Park, Dragon Lane, Durham, DH1 2RH. Open Monday to Friday 7am - 8pm, Saturday 7am - 7pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm.
