Wickes opens in Winnersh
DIY store Wickes will open its doors in Winnersh for the first time on Saturday, creating 30 new jobs.
Deputy mayor Councillor Bob Wyatt will open the new branch in Gazelle Close at 10am, alongside store manager Peter Burgess.
The new store, which replaces Focus after the DIY shop closed last year, boasts a 4,210 sq ft showroom area, which showcases the Wickes range of 29 kitchens and 26 bathrooms.
The store also houses a 5,745 sq ft outdoor projects section, with items such as fencing, decking and sheds.
Mr Burgess said: “We are looking forward to welcoming customers through the door on Saturday, and helping tradesman and DIY-ers alike with a whole host of great quality home improvement products from doors to fences and kitchens to tiles.
“To celebrate the opening we’re offering our customers some special offers on a range of products.”
Tim Matthews, director of retail development at Wickes, said: “The new Wickes store is a major investment in the area and plays a significant role in our ongoing store opening programme across the UK – we’re delighted with this latest addition to our estate.
“Winnersh needs a DIY store that’s serious about home improvement.
“We offer a range of quality DIY and trade products for the local community, and we know that once a customer has visited one of our stores they return time and again to enjoy low prices and practical advice.”
