Wickes opens in Newbury

After a long wait, Wickes has opened its Newbury store.

The hardware giant opened its doors in Hambridge Road last week, boasting a new kitchen and bathroom design centre plus a bigger garden and outdoor range in the garden project centre.

The opening was attended by the mayor of Newbury, Howard Bairstow, and the chairwoman of Thatcham Youth, Mel Alexander, as the store is teaming up with the group as its charity partner.

To celebrate its opening, the store will be holding a weekend of festivities, kicking off tomorrow (Friday) where visitors will be treated to a glass of fizz, nibbles and 15 per cent off everything all weekend.

And those in store between noon and 4pm on Saturday can have their photo taken with one of the UK’s most iconic four- legged friends – the Dulux dog.

The Newbury store will also be one of the first in the country to offer a new counter service, which offers more choice as well as access to Wickes’ one-hour click and collect service or free home delivery.

Store manager Paul O’Reilly said: “Our store provides the area with a go-to destination for quality products that offer real value for money and cater for a variety of DIY needs.

“We’re confident that the new store will provide everyone with the tools, materials and advice they need to complete their project, from those embarking on their first DIY project right through to experienced tradesmen.”
