Home improvement retailer Wickes today announced that it had created a silent drill - yes, you heard it right!

Revealed on social media channels this morning, the Wickes 18V Silent Combi Drill addressed the ongoing problem for any avid DIYer - how early is too early to start noisy DIY tasks on the weekend?

Functioning just like any other state-of-the-art power tool, the retailer claims it’s ideal for drilling and screwdriving into wood, plastic and metals, but without the headache. Not only does it benefit the person using it, but those around them – kids, neighbours, and even pets!

Wickes customers have been quick to jump on the new ground-breaking tool that launched today on Wickes’s official social channels, and they are impressed.

The post quickly received hundreds of likes and comments, with one person saying:

And another said:

Wickes later unveiled it was only an April Fools’ prank. However, judging by customer reactions, they might want to consider looking into the reality of it.
