Wickes’ Director of Décor Chris Moorhouse talks us through the latest trending colourways and the different ways these can be embraced in customer’s own homes. Chris comments: “When looking at key trends for the coming year, we have seen elements of nature inspiring our colour choices more and more. Where the year just gone has seen many of us embrace the natural world more than ever, after months with long walks being the only sources of outdoor activity, homeowners are now looking to bring this natural tranquillity indoors. The below colour families reflect this desire for bringing nature inside the home”.
Rich Botanicals
Chris Says: This unique combination of rich floral hues combined with natural earthy neutral tones is a key trend for Autumn/Winter ’21. A combination of botanical inspired pink and lavender tones married with warm and natural beige and chic slate combine to make a colourway that is both head turning and crowd pleasing. This look would work well in a living room or snug, to warm up a room and create a real cosy, welcoming feel.
Earthy Neutrals
Chris Says: These muted neutrals combine with a bold pop of yellow to evoke the feeling of a meadow on a late summer's day. This colour combination is designed to create a down to earth, wholesome feel to a room, with the muted tones calming down a chaotic space and the vivid yellow creating a positive, upbeat energy.
Peacock Hues
Chris Says: Unique and aesthetically pleasing, this peacock inspired colour family combines the bolder hues of rich teal and warming yellow with adaptable cool grey and warm brown hues to create a look that is both unexpected yet easy to incorporate. The calming nature of the soft grey and the sultriness of the deep green, offset by the cheerful Apricot shade gives this colourway a mood enhancing effect, making it perfectly suited to a bedroom or guest room space.
Marine Inspiration
Chris Says: A chic, understated twist on a nautically influenced colourway, this ocean inspired look evokes the feeling of a seaside stroll on a cloudy day. The cool blue, teal and grey shades give the dramatic and calming effect of a stormy sea, where the pastel coral hue works to soften this palette and provide a necessary pop of warmth. This look would work particularly well in the bathroom, providing a soothing yet energising scheme to begin and end each day with. With a full range of paint colours sure to complement statement walls, as well as everything you need to complete your home renovation project in store and online, Wickes is here to support your home goals, whatever the desire.
