Wickes Farnborough Transforms Bathroom at The Vine Centre

Wickes Pennywell Opening

Wickes Farnborough recently transformed the bathroom at The Vine Centre, a key community hub in Aldershot that provides essential services such as mental health support, addiction recovery programmes, and a warm space for residents. The previous bathroom was outdated and in disrepair, with accessibility challenges including a small shower enclosure on a step, which created significant difficulties for individuals with disabilities.

This renovation, made possible through Wickes' Community Programme, included the donation of products, creating a more accessible and welcoming space better suited to the needs of the centre's users.

Mike Hayes, Store Manager at Wickes Farnborough, said: "We’re incredibly honoured to have been a part of such a meaningful project. The new bathroom at The Vine Centre is now a modern, functional, and fully accessible space. This renovation is a testament to the positive impact we can achieve in our local communities when we work together."

Lesley Herniman, CEO of The Vine Centre, expressed: "We are overwhelmed with gratitude to Wickes for their generosity and commitment to supporting our centre. The new bathroom is a vast improvement and will make a real difference in the lives of the people we serve, particularly those who are homeless or struggling with the cost of living crisis."

Wickes’ recent Great Bathroom Report highlights that bathrooms have changed from being just functional spaces to becoming personalised retreats that reflect individual tastes and needs. The renovation at The Vine Centre showcases how smart bathroom design can improve usability while creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. Wickes is proud to have contributed to this project and remains committed to supporting local communities through its Community Programme.

The Wickes Community Programme welcomes all local community groups seeking assistance for improvement projects. Groups interested in applying for a product donation can visit their local store to speak to the manager or find out more by visiting our website at www.wickes.co.uk/community-programme.
