Wickes and Business Link launch 'Tradebuilder' project
Business Link has joined forces with Wickes to create an online resource to support the business development of tradesmen.
The new site, called Tradebuilder, brings together the business expertise of Business Link with the industry knowledge of Wickes to deliver business resources. This includes how to run a successful business including tax advice specifically geared to the construction industry.
Research by Wickes found that more than a third (38%) of tradesmen failed to take business advice and said that it was too difficult to find.
Tradesmen admitted missing submitting tax returns on time, losing money through unpaid consumer debts and writing off debts altogether. Just less than half (44%) of those taking part in Wickes research said they were put off hiring an apprentice or an employee because of all the red tape involved.
"Todays's tough economic climate means that working for yourself is harder than ever," said Wickes board director, Rob Murray.
"What's clear from our research is that tradesmen simply don't know where to find business advice easily, so we've launched Tradebuilder to try to address this."

I find the news and articles they publish really useful and enjoy reading their views and commentary on the industry. It's the only source of quality, reliable information on our major customers and it's used regularly by myself and my team.
