Want to wipe the floor with incremental sales?
At Insight DIY we get to see a lot and I mean a lot of Home Improvement and garden products and we spend a large amount of time speaking with suppliers and retailers and visiting their stores.
However, it’s not often we come across a range of products that are so clearly destined for commercial success that I would stake my own personal reputation upon it. The company in question is Uniwipe and the product, a range of the biggest packs of wipes you have ever seen in your life!
The company has a heritage in the clinical sector, where they originally introduced a dual action cleaner and sanitiser wipe (sold in packs of 100) that could be used to clean and disinfect an entire hospital bed and they now have expanded the range to include the UltraGrime industrial wipes for tradespeople.
OK, so what’s so special about these wipes?
Firstly, the pack size, they are simply huge, but only when compared to the standard DIY or baby wipe packs we’re all used to seeing in the grocery and Home Improvement retailers. The pack is still small enough to be an impulse purchase pick-up product from a Big-Box Home Improvement store through to a local independent hardware business. It’s also one of those products that consumers will be able to understand in less than five seconds, it needs very little explaining.
Secondly (here’s the secret) they’re not really wipes, they’re more like cloths and from our own testing, I can tell you that one wipe goes a heck of a long way and stays wet for over an hour. The Uniwipe team tell me that the wipes stay wet in the closed pack for more than a year!
Already widely available across the Builders Merchants and decorating centres, Uniwipe are expanding and are now ready to discuss stocking options with Home Improvement and Gardening retailers.
The tight range currently includes the brand leading Ultra-Grime product (black pack) which is the one that has taken the trade market by storm in the last two years with its super-performance wipes for hands, tools and any surfaces. Quite simply, it’s the product that every single tradesperson, irrespective of their area of expertise should keep in their van.
It’s also worth mentioning at this point that the product shifts paint, oil, grease, ink, silicone, bitumen, uncured PU foam and other stubborn, ground-in grime.
And why am I so confident of the commercial potential? Firstly, due to its size and positioning. I believe the product will deliver truly incremental sales to the retailers who stock it and secondly, at an affordable price point that gives extra value to the user, whilst delivering great cash and percentage margins too.
The current range also includes a Multi-Purpose product (blue pack), a Washroom product (red) focused on janitorial supplies, the aforementioned Clinical product (yellow) and a product aimed at the Catering market (green).
