Victorian Plumbing Named in The Sunday Times and Fast Track's Top Track 250
The Sunday Times and Fast Track have revealed 2019's Top Track 250, with Victorian Plumbing coming in at no. 246 on the list of Britain’s top private mid-market growth companies.
Victorian Plumbing's inclusion comes after strong revenues of £118m in 2018 and profits of £3.5m, both of which were increases on 2017's figures. It is one of 18 retailers that made the top 250, and the only retailer amongst those that specializes in products for the home. It is also the only Merseyside-based business to appear on the list.
The 250 companies generated combined sales of £66.3bn, up 16% from £54.8bn in their prior year. They achieved profits of £5.9bn, up 21%, with nearly two-thirds (152) increasing their profit margin.
Victorian Plumbing's success stands out in a period of uncertainty and difficulty for the home improvement sector. Competitors such as Bathstore and Better Bathrooms have struggled this year, whilst large DIY chains like Homebase have also faced turbulence and losses in the market.
One of the reasons for Victorian Plumbing's success has been its efficiency in achieving high revenues with a low staff cost. The company was named the UK's Most Productive Retailer this year by Retail Week, outperforming the likes of ASOS, Aldi and Jessops.
Mark Radcliffe, Managing Director:
“It's fantastic to be featured in this prestigious category of businesses and it's a testament to our hard work in competitive and challenging times. The unfortunate failure of other businesses in our sector was something that we've foreseen for a while, made inevitable by fierce competition and overcommitted marketing budgets.
We’re now entering a period of even greater growth and increased profitability, with industry leading achievements to report in the coming months. I expect to see Victorian Plumbing featuring even higher on the list next year as we go from strength to strength."
