Updated plans submitted for £8m Dobbies garden centre in York

PLANS for an £8 million environmentally-friendly Dobbies Garden World development at York Business Park, which is set to create 120 new jobs, have been submitted to City of York Council.

The proposed development received support from the local community following a public consultation held in York in September and a report demonstrating this support has been sent to the council as part of the application.

The garden centre is proposed on an eight-acre site off the outer ring road (A1237) in the Nether Poppleton area.

Stuart Wright, director of property at Dobbies, said: “We have spent considerable time shaping these plans to make sure they are absolutely right for this important site in York and we are pleased to have finally submitted our application for what we believe will be a fantastic new destination for the region.

“We received a fantastic response about our proposals from local people with many telling us that they are excited about the prospect of a new garden centre on their doorstep.”
