Turnover increases 9% at Home Bargains
Accounts filed at Companies House show that discount retailer Home Bargains achieved sales of £1.6bn in the year ended 30th June 2016, up 9% on the previous year.
The Liverpool-based retailer cited the opening and additional stores and re-siting of others for the £130m rise in turnover, along with an improved performance by its existing store network.
Operating profit decreased from £147m to £137m, a drop of 7%.
Home Bargains operated 408 stores at the end of the reporting period and has added a further 12 since. The value chain plans to open a further 30 stores next year, bringing the total to 450, which it hopes will 'lead to further growth and profitability'.
