Travis Perkins to deploy OneView IT technology at Wickes

Wickes Home Improvement centre

Wickes' parent company Travis Perkins has invested in technology from OneView Commerce as it looks to join up its off- and online channels.

Travis Perkins has moved a step closer to developing a new connected multichannel IT platform, as part of its strategy to replace legacy systems.

DIY retailer Wickes, which runs a network of 256 stores across the UK and is the largest consumer-facing Travis Perkins brand, is the first of the group to undergo the transformation, which will see a full in-store point of sale and cross-channel implementation of OneView Commerce's technology.

There are plans to standardise all of the group's businesses on the new platform over the next couple of years, with the aim of improving the customer experience online and in branches. OneView says that the new infrastructure will be easier to use for employees, help the retailer gather better quality data, and improve general processes.

Travis Perkins CIO Norman Bell commented: "We chose OneView Commerce based on their ability to deliver on our cross-channel strategy with a single in-store solution that provides one comprehensive view of the customer journey, including online activity and purchasing history.

"The connected view of the customer journey gives our customers a better experience and at the same time simplifies our store operations."

OneView's platform, which can be integrated with Travis Perkins' existing SAP hybris eCommerce system, will be extended across all of Wickes' stores during the first half of 2016.
