Travis Perkins signs up for new Warrington distribution centre
Builders' merchant Travis Perkins has become the third major occupier to sign up for space at the 'Omega North' development in Warrington.
The Northampton-based listed company has taken 700,000 sq ft for a new regional distribution centre after being linked with the site before Christmas.
The deal follows swiftly on the heels of consumer delivery specialist Hermes taking 153,500 sq ft for a £17m project.
The Travis Perkins development is subject to planning approval and is due for completion in mid-2014.
More than one million sq ft has now been taken on Omega North after food group Brakes agreed to take 200,000 sq ft late last year.
Omega Warrington is a joint venture between Miller Developments and KUC Properties, in partnership with landowner the Homes and Communities Agency and supported by Warrington Borough Council and Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership.
The 'Omega' project is a 575-acre brownfield site comprising part of the former USAF/RAF Burtonwood Airbase. Omega North is 129 acres and Omega South extends to 446 acres.
Miller joint managing director Andrew Sutherland said: "The level of occupier success we have achieved at Omega North since Christmas is unprecedented throughout not only the North West but the whole of the UK."
Property consultancy Jones Lang LaSalle and law firm Addleshaw Goddard acted for Omega Warrington. Architect is Chetwoods.
Travis Perkins was advised by CP Property Consultants, development consultancy Bourne Partnership and real estate lawyers BSDR.
