Travis Perkins restructures
Builders merchant Travis Perkins has announced a restructure and several new management appointments following the acquisition of BSS.
The new structure, reporting through John Carter, the group chief operating officer, effective from 1 January, 2012, will comprise:
General Merchanting, comprising the four regional Travis Perkins businesses;
Specialist Merchanting, comprising Keyline, CCF, Benchmarx and associate merchant, Rinus Roofing;
Plumbing & Heating, comprising the ex-BSS Group businesses of BSS Industrial, PTS, Direct Heating Spares, together with City Plumbing Supplies and City Heating Spares;
Consumer, comprising Wickes, Tile Giant and our associate multi-channel business, ToolStation.
The two remaining ex-BSS Group businesses, Birchwood Price Tools and F&P Wholesale will report through Travis Perkins' central commercial and supply chain functions and for external reporting purposes they will be part of the Plumbing & Heating Division results.
In managerial changes, Norman Bell is being promoted to a new role of group development director, following his running of the BSS integration project alongside John Carter. Paul Tallentire is appointed as divisional chairman of the Plumbing and Heating division. Ian Church, who has led the Travis Perkins business in the Midlands for the last 7 years, becomes Managing Director, PTS.
Jeremy Bird is promoted to the new role of Divisional Chairman for the Consumer division. Simon King, an experienced retail executive from Safeway (now Morrisons) and Tesco, and who was most recently Chief Operations Officer at Asda, joins the Group as Managing Director Wickes.
Joe Mescall and Arthur Davidson continue to lead the remaining two operating divisions as Divisional Chairmen of General Merchanting and Specialist Merchanting respectively.
Kieran Griffin, a former Keyline and Travis Perkins manager and regional director is promoted to Managing Director, Travis Perkins Midlands.
Howard Luft, until recently Managing Director Buck & Hickman and responsible for the sale of this business, re-joins the Group to become Managing Director CCF.
