  • Travis Perkins branch relocates to Tame Retail and Trade Park, Tamworth
  • Relocation has created seven extra jobs and is 1.8 acres in size

Travis Perkins, the UK’s largest supplier of building materials to the building and construction industry, will relocate from Tame Valley Industrial Estate to Tame Retail and Trade Park, only 0.5 miles away. The new branch is set to open its doors on the 24th July and will offer a new, bigger and purpose built destination branch, with more space to provide a better product range for customers.

The existing seven strong team will transfer to the new site, and Travis Perkins has recruited an extra seven staff for full-time positions, making a total of 14. The new branch is 1.8 acres in size, and includes a 2,700 square foot sales area. The site will be a low-carbon branch and will boast full LED lighting, three electric charging points, electric forklift trucks, A/C heating and cooling, PV and battery storage, all of which will help to deliver on Travis Perkins ambition of decarbonizing its fleet and becoming a net-zero carbon producer.

For the first time, the branch will include a Benchmarx kitchen showroom and a full landscaping range, increasing the Travis Perkins offering to local customers. Other popular services available at the new site include an increased timber range, bulk insulation and plasterboard storage and an estimating service. The site also boasts a brand-new Travis Perkins Hire Centre from where customers can hire tools, plant and equipment and more.

In the trade, ‘time is money’ and so customers can choose to shop online, in branch or by using the new Travis Perkins app. The industry-first app has been designed in conjunction with customers to help them save time and work smarter by enabling them to check and order stock on the go at their personal trade prices in real time from their local branch.

Branch manager Chris Riley says: “We’ve been serving the local community of tradespeople and builders in Tamworth since 2004 and we can’t wait to open our bigger and better relocated site to offer them an even greater service and range of products. We have a great team in place and are ready to serve as a one-stop shop for everyone’s building and construction needs. As well as the 25,000 products available in stock or to order online, we’re pleased to be showcasing our new Benchmarx kitchen showroom as well as a landscaping and hire range.”
