Travis Perkins promotes John Carter to deputy chief executive
Builders merchant Travis Perkins has promoted current chief operating officer John Carter to deputy chief executive, with effect from 1 January 2012.
The Wickes owner said the move comes as part of an organisational shake-up including the creation of four divisions for the group's operating businesses.
"This new role of deputy chief executive combines responsibility for the enlarged business operating through these four divisions with a wider group of central functions, including IT and Customer Development," Travis Perkins explained.
"The role brings together the operating businesses and those functions, including supply chain and direct sourcing (currently reporting to John as COO) that have a major role to play in its organic development programme," the group said.
During this second phase, the group's merchanting business system will be adapted and rolled out throughout the BSS branch network.
"The BSS integration programme remains on track to deliver its financial targets by the end of 2012, one year ahead of schedule. This appointment enhances the focus on these two strategic priorities," Travis Perkins said.
Chairman Robert Walker added, "We look forward to his contribution to the future development of the group".
