Travis Perkins Opens Relocated Tamworth Branch

On Monday 24th July, the brand-new Travis Perkins opened in Tame Retail and Trade Park, only 0.5 miles away from its previous site in Tame Valley Industrial Estate. The opening of the UK’s largest supplier of building materials to the building and construction industry, was attended by the Mayor, Councillor John Harper who cut the ribbon and celebrated with the team and customers. The new branch offers customers even more products, services and space.

The branch has recruited an additional seven staff for full-time positions, joining the existing seven strong team from Tame Valley Industrial Estate, making a total of 14 colleagues. It is 1.8 acres in size, and includes a 2,700 square foot sales area. The purpose-built branch is a low-carbon branch and boasts full LED lighting, three electric charging points, electric forklift trucks, A/C heating and cooling, PV and battery storage, all of which will help to deliver on Travis Perkins ambition of decarbonizing its fleet and becoming a net-zero carbon producer.

For the first time, the branch includes a Benchmarx kitchen showroom and a full landscaping range, increasing the Travis Perkins offering to local customers. Other popular services available at the new site include an increased timber range, bulk insulation and plasterboard storage and an estimating service. The site also boasts a brand-new Travis Perkins Hire Centre from where customers can hire tools, plant and equipment and more.

The Mayor of Tamworth, Councillor John Harper says, “I am honoured to open the new Travis Perkins branch in Tamworth. It’s brilliant news that the relocation has created an additional seven jobs for our community. The new branch will also drive our local tradespeople to choose from sustainable options too.”

In the trade, ‘time is money’ and so customers can choose to shop online, in branch or by using the new Travis Perkins app. The industry-first app has been designed in conjunction with customers to help them save time and work smarter by enabling them to check and order stock on the go at their personal trade prices in real time from their local branch.

Branch manager Chris Riley says: “We’ve been serving the local community of tradespeople and builders in Tamworth since 2004 and we are excited to open our bigger and better relocated site to offer them an even greater service and range of products. Our great team are ready to serve as a one-stop shop for everyone’s building and construction needs. As well as the 25,000 products available in stock or to order online, we’re pleased to be showcasing our new Benchmarx kitchen showroom as well as a landscaping and hire range.”
