Travis Perkins’ Keyline fund-raising hits £250k mark

Builders merchant Keyline Builders Merchants, part of the Travis Perkins group, has raised £250,000 for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Among the activities undertaken by employees, customers are suppliers were sponsored walks, charity balls, car rallies, marathon running and major-moustache-growing.

Keyline has been supporting the charity for the past two years.

More than 250 normally clean-shaven (male!) members of staff took part in last year's moustache charity event Movember, which helped to raise more than £20,000.

Meanwhile, twenty-four teams from Keyline took part in an Italian Job Rally that involved driving over 1,500 miles from Northfleet in Kent to Turin in Northern Italy. They joined forces with other teams from the Travis Perkins Group to collectively raise over £110,000.

Owen Sharp, chief executive at The Prostate Cancer Charity said: "Keyline has done an amazing job raising vital money and awareness of the disease since the start of the partnership. It is fantastic to see they have gone above and beyond all expectations and raised a huge £244,068.50 for the Charity. This is a clear sign of their ongoing support, dedication and commitment to helping us fight prostate cancer."

Andrew Harrison, Keyline managing director said: "Working within the construction sector, a male-dominated industry, prostate cancer is a very real health concern for our staff, customers and suppliers.

"Therefore, we are delighted by the success we have achieved through our national events and employee fundraising. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved for their hard work and dedication."

Keyline entered into a two-year national partnership with The Prostate Cancer Charity at the end of 2009, which has since been extended until 2013.
