Travis Perkins commences operations at new Regional Distribution Centre

Travis Perkins, the UK’s largest timber and builder’s merchant, has begun operations from its brand new Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) in the Appleton area of Warrington. The 11 acre site means that all 150 branches in the region can now promise customers in the North West that if a product is not already in stock, it will be there by the next day.

The RDC enables branches, whatever their size, to provide builders and contractors across the North West of England access to the most comprehensive range of building materials in the industry. Not only will Travis Perkins now be able to promise a greater product range and improved availability, it also means that all 150 branches in the region will be able to offer a full tool and equipment hire service.

Andrew Harrison, Chief Operating Officer of Travis Perkins, said: “We’re incredibly excited about what this means for our customers. As their local timber and builder’s merchant we can provide them with the largest possible range of quality materials, available at a time to suit them.”

As well as offering customers extended product and service choice, the site will support staff training and skillset development from a purpose built, state-of-the-art Branch Service Centre.

- Travis Perkins has purchased the freehold outright

- The RDC covers an 11 acre site

- 430,400 sq ft of new concreting was laid to complete the site

- The main warehouse is 99,500 sq ft

- Offices and employee areas add a further 11,267 sq ft

- 2938 racking locations and over 3000 product lines stocked

- 20 vehicles will be operating out of the site

- The site will be operated by 105 employees
