Trago Mills revamp gets underway
The £3 million expansion of the Newton Abbot branch of Trago Mills is starting today with a turf-cutting ceremony.
The existing garden centre and a former cafe will be demolished to make room for a new DIY centre, and an amusement arcade will also be demolished and rebuilt.
It is anticipated that the new development will open next spring, and will cover 3,297sqm.
Trago Mills has said that aim of the new DIY centre is to expand its current DIY space and attract trade customers.
Teignbridge Council gave planning permission for the demolition of the Trago clearance store and redevelopment as a new DIY centre for trade customers in 2015.
Kier has been appointed by the company to perform the construction work and local press reports suggest that the style of the redevelopment will be in the 'distinctive architecture for which Trago is famous'.
