The National DIY Show 2018 axed
News reached the Insight offices over the weekend that the Totally DIY Show owned and run by Hemming Group had been axed and that the team dedicated to the event had been made redundant.
Following the Totally DIY & Tools show that ran in February this year, plans were revealed to re-brand and refresh the concept as The National DIY Show and move to a two day event in June 2018.
A press release issued by Hemming Group can be read here.
This morning Lucyanne Matthews Group Commercial Manager of Brintex Events, part of Hemming Group, said it was “with deep regret that the 2018 exhibition is being cancelled”, adding “the show has been a staple part of the DIY retail industry for over 23 years and helped launch many fledgling companies and personalities.”
The statement continued: “This is not to say the show won’t be back but for 2019 but the firm decision was made by the Brintex and Hemming Group Board to put the show on hold".
"The organisers would like to thank the industry associations who have shown support over the years especially BHETA who have supported the exhibition with a dedicated area and been a champion for the New Product Zone. The organisers would also like to say a big thank you to strong supporting partners Home Hardware, who have backed the show for many years and were fully on board for the new 2018 concept.”
