Topps Tiles new warehouse ready for Q4

Topps Tiles says a new £1.6m warehouse integral to its supply chain will be complete in Q4.

The tile distributing giant confirmed that an extra facility at its Leicestershire DC, which it started building in January last year, will be fully operational during the final quarter of the financial year which ends in October.

"The warehouse will play a significant role in our logistics strategy over the coming years, as we further integrate our supply chain and allow increased levels of sourcing direct from factory gates, which will provide a platform for further gross margin growth," the firm said today in its interim management report for the 26 weeks to 2 April.

During the period, group sales rose 1.5% to £89.2m from the 26 weeks to 2 April 2010, while operating profit dropped to £9.1m from £10.3m.
