Top IT award for Homebase team
Homebase has won a top IT award - after coming up with two novel and innovative customer services.
Shoppers at the flagship Aylesford store can use 'Create the Look' and 'Plant Finder', on simple touch-screen terminals. Create the Look allows customers to upload personal room photos and 'virtually' decorate them. 'Plant Finder' is an excellent on-screen A to Z guide, with loads of horticultural information.
Ian Towse, Service Project Manager, said: "I'm absolutely delighted on behalf of the team and our partner companies who helped to develop these services.
"Create the Look has been a great success with customers. Many of them think it's fantastic. Being able to change flooring, paint and wall coverings on-screen gives them lots of ideas.
"And Plant Finder is sought out and well used by our 'green fingered' customers."
Both products were developed in collaboration with partners Qmatic and HintTech.
The award - Best use of in-store marketing technology in retail - was presented at the 2011 Retail System awards, at a gala dinner at the Lancaster London Hotel.
