Toolstream Acquires Birchwood Price Tools From Travis Perkins
DIY Week has reported that Toolstream has acquired the Birchwood Price Tools business from Travis Perkins.
Toolstream supplies over 5,000 branded hand tools, power tools, fixings and adhesives, while Birchwood Price Tools is a leading manufacturer of workwear and site equipment, renowned for developing successful trade brands including Scruffs (workwear), Defender (site power & lighting), and Van Vault (secure storage).
Travis Perkins acquired Nottingham-based Birchwood Price Tools in 2011, giving the business access to the Travis Perkins distribution network and subsequently accelerating its growth. Further expansion took place between 2012 and 2014 with the launch of new brands including ToughGrit (entry-level workwear and safety footwear), Bullet (woodscrews) & Punk (power tool accessories).
Toolstream told DIY Week that it had acquired the business for an undisclosed sum and advised that the business is in talks with other brands as part of an 'ongoing expansion strategy'.
