The UK's Most Googled DIY Questions Revealed

New data has shown that Brits looking to carry out DIY need the most support when it comes to bleeding a radiator. 

Trade Fix Direct has analysed Google search data to find out what DIY tasks Brits are looking for guidance on the most. 

The most googled DIY query was found to be in the plumbing and heating department, with 27,100 monthly searches for ‘How to bleed a radiator’. 

This was closely followed by Brits needing help in their bathroom, with 22,200 monthly searches regarding ‘How to unblock a toilet’. 

Brits were equally stumped between reading an electric meter and unblocking a sink, with 6,600 average monthly searches made for the queries, respectively. 

With summer around the corner, garden related queries have seen a surge in searches. 

The biggest spike in searches was for the query, “How to sharpen garden shears”, with searches skyrocketing by 222% in the last 3 months. 

Queries regarding how to clean decking saw the second biggest increase in searches at 177%, followed by how to level a garden at 175%. 

Commenting on the findings, Paul Kershaw at Trade Fix Direct said: 

“It’s clear to see that Brits aren’t afraid to carry out a spot of DIY to get their homes and gardens in order, even if this means taking to Google for that extra bit of guidance. However, if you’re unsure, it’s worth calling in a professional, with tasks such as wiring a plug or light switch, to ensure the safety of yourself and those you live with.”
