The Range to open new Salford store in September
A homeware chain has announced the opening date for its new store.
The Range is to move into West One retail park in Eccles, Salford, on Friday September 12.
The retail park off Gilda Brook Road, suffered a major blow last summer when supermarket giant Tesco scrapped plans to build a £30m store and bring 400 jobs to the retail park.
The arrival of The Range’s 89th branch will create around 100 full-time and part-time jobs varying from store and department managers to warehouse and admin staff.
It will occupy more than 40,000 sq ft, selling DIY, arts and crafts and home goods. There will also be a café in the shop.
The Range, owned and run by Plymouth-based entrepreneur Chris Dawson, sells DIY goods, homeware, furniture and arts and crafts.
Mr Dawson commented: “We are confident that the new store will create plenty of new jobs and hopefully become an integral part of the community. I would like to thank the council for welcoming us and being so supportive. We feel that The Range is a unique shopping experience that has something for everyone and we are confident that the people of Eccles will enjoy what The Range has to offer.”
The store will open its doors at 9am.
Chris added: “Eccles is a location with so much potential, we are continuing to grow fast and expand and I am confident that The Range Eccles will help us in doing this.”
The store revealed its plans to open the new branch in May.
Eccles Councillor Peter Wheeler told the Salford Advertiser at the time: "At the moment West One seems nearly empty.
"This might help to provide a boost for the retail park."
