The Range plans first Scottish store in Aberdeen
Home improvement retailer The Range is planning to create 150 new jobs in Aberdeen with its first store opening north of the border.
The company hopes to open a store in vacant units at the Queens Links Leisure Park.
Plans for the site, which formerly housed the Amadeus nightclub and Riva bingo outlets, are dependent on a change of use from entertainment to retail being agreed with Aberdeen City Council.
The two units, comprising around 60,000 sq. ft of space in total, have lain unoccupied for a number of years.
Owners X-Leisure have now lodged a planning application with Aberdeen City Council for a change of use and to link the two redundant units to create a 60,000 sq ft retail store.
Entrepreneur Chris Dawson, owner and founder of The Range, said: “Aberdeen is an economic hot spot which outperforms many other cities in the UK. It is the ideal location for us to launch The Range brand in Scotland and there is much more to come, that I can guarantee you.
“The Queens Links site is a great starting point for us to grow our business in Scotland and in addition to creating a large number of local jobs we are confident The Range will have a positive impact on Aberdeen’s excellent retail sector.”
