The Range has submitted a pre-application notice to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for the proposed development of a retail unit at Bridgewater Park, Banbridge, in Northern Ireland.

The submission was made by CDS (Superstores International) Ltd (The Range is the company's trading name) and relates to a new The Range store on land adjacent to Tesco at Bridgewater Park, Banbridge (Boulevard). The scheme will incorporate the existing vacant unit to provide a comprehensive redevelopment of the site, including car parking.

The scheme will comprise a retail store (4,518 sq.m.gross) with external garden centre (681 sq.m.gross) extending in total to approximately 5,200 sq.m.gross and capable of accommodating the company's full range of products, and Iceland concession and an ancillary café.

The site is located to the north-west of Tesco and includes Unit 1A which is already built and which will be incorporated into the proposal. It also includes land adjacent to Unit 1A which benefits from planning permission under App. No. Q/2014/0036/F for Unit B (2,588 sq.m. gross). Car parking will also be provided at the site, the address for which is Bridgewater Park, Banbridge, BT32 4LF.

Local press reported that the development is likely to cost around £3million; it is anticipated that up to 100 jobs could be created if the development goes ahead.
