Tesco to launch 1,000 page catalogue
Tesco is set to press ahead with a significant expansion of its non-food offer by launching a 1,000 Tesco Direct Catalogue. The new catalogue, which is due to go into store in March, will include an additional 2,000 new products, and is expected to be five times the size of the existing 184 page trial catalogue launched last Autumn.
The new catalogue will showcase the majority of Tesco's non-food offering, which will include a total of over 10,000 lines. Over time, the range is expected to grow to more than 16,000 lines as Tesco takes on Argos and the other non-food specialist retailers.
At this stage, Tesco will not disclose seperate sales figures for Tesco Direct, although after Christmas it did say that sales from Tesco.com increased by more than 30% to £150m in the 6 weeks to 6th January 2007.
