Tesco Marketplace Range More Than Doubles

Tesco's new online marketplace has expanded significantly since it launched in early June, more than doubling the number of products available.

The platform now offers over 20,000 skus from third-party sellers across categories including DIY, garden, homeware, cookware, toys, baby and toddler, sports and leisure, beauty and petcare, among others.

The initial launch offered around 9,000 products and Tesco said more items would be added as Marketplace 'expands and evolves to meet customer shopping needs'.

Tesco said, "Marketplace builds on Tesco’s success as the UK’s leading online grocer, with over 22 million Clubcard members and 1.2m orders each week on Tesco.com. It represents the next step in making shopping with Tesco even more convenient for customers, with even more products available in one place.

"Establishing a Marketplace will allow Tesco to expand its online capacity, increase its range and explore new product areas – making Tesco.com a ‘one-stop shop’ for everything customers need, when it reaches scale."

Peter Filcek, Tesco marketplace director, told The Grocer that the supermarket was “really excited about expanding Marketplace over the next few months to give customers even more choice and we look forward to working with new sellers to introduce further categories and brands to Marketplace”.

“We knew that we wanted to open up access to a wider range of products for Tesco customers; we could see customers were searching for products that we didn’t sell, and that we could be front of mind for.”
