Tesco helps in the home

TESCO Home Services, which was launched in the town a couple of months ago, has proved to be a great success with a number of interesting assignments for workmen taking part.

The supermarket giant chose Swindon as the country’s guinea pig and if it is successful it will be rolled out across the rest of the UK.

Reports suggest that it is likely to go ahead in the UK.

The service aims to help customers find fairly priced and reliable trade professionals for home maintenance and repairs.

Tesco is in the background for support, having approached 15 firms in the Swindon area after personal recommendations were made.

The companies were then checked out for their reliability and all were happy to be put under the Tesco umbrella.

People helped so far include one customer who had a squirrel infestation and required a cherry picker to work at heights.

Justin Hollloway, of Prokill, persuaded the rodents to move on.

Rod Brown, the Home Services Director for Tesco, said at the launch of the service: “We know that our customers often worry about the best way to find a reputable service.

“Tesco is a brand customers know and trust and by offering this service we are giving people in Swindon the confidence that what they will receive will be good value and reliable.

“We are helping to take away some of that uncertainty.”

By calling Tesco Home Services on just one central number customers can be confident they will receive good local trade professionals for any range of essential home services – from plumbing and pest control to handyman services and heating.

Prices for each job booked are set by Tesco Home Services to ensure clear and fair pricing that consumers can trust.

Customers also benefit from a guarantee for all work and will earn Clubcard points on jobs booked.

Gary Smith, a partner with family-run building contractor Steele Davis, said: “We are pleased to be working with Tesco Home Services as it will provide us with a new way of broadening our customer base.

“We have been in business for 35 years now and always generated work through recommendation. Endorsement by Tesco will really help us grow our business.”

Information on Tesco Home Services is available in Tesco in Ocotal Way and on www.tescohomeservices.com.
