Tesco expected to launch new format 'Jack's' next week
Tesco is expected to launch its new-format 'Jack's' store in Cambridgeshire, next week.
A media event is being held at a mothballed Tesco store in Chatteris on Wednesday, where Tesco is expected to reveal its new discount chain format, developed to counter the success of Aldi and Lidl, which have a combined grocery market share of 13%.
Speculation around a new discount chain mounted in early August when the Telegraph published an article which confirmed the retailer had recently trademarked the name Jack’s – a nod to Tesco founder Jack Cohen – and had been advertising for various roles at a ‘new store format’.
