TaskRabbit Expands in North America to Help Canadians Tackle Everyday DIY Tasks
Today, TaskRabbit, the on-demand network that conveniently connects people with “Taskers” to handle everyday home improvement tasks, officially launched in Canada.
IKEA acquired TaskRabbit in October 2017.
Jesper Brodin, President and CEO of IKEA Group, said of the acquisition: “In a fast changing retail environment, we continuously strive to develop new and improved products and services to make our customers’ lives a little bit easier. Entering the on-demand, sharing economy enables us to support that. We will be able to learn from TaskRabbit’s digital expertise, while also providing IKEA customers additional ways to access flexible and affordable service solutions to meet the needs of today’s customer.”
Now available in the Greater Toronto Area, TaskRabbit plans to roll out in Vancouver next month and Montreal in 2019. The launch comes at a time when, according to recent survey data, 54% of Canadians rank packing and moving among their most dreaded tasks to complete at home.
“For the past 10 years, we’ve helped connect hundreds of thousands of people to a trusted network of Taskers who can tackle those tough to-do’s,” said Stacy Brown-Philpot, CEO of TaskRabbit.
“Whether it’s assembling furniture, mounting TVs or help with moving and packing, we’re excited to bring TaskRabbit to Canada so people in more communities can get help for life.”
The San Francisco-based online and mobile network – an independent subsidiary of IKEA Group – connects clients with skilled workers who can help with anything from minor home repairs, packing and moving help, yard work, furniture assembly, delivery and more.
Beginning in October, TaskRabbit will also roll out in select IKEA Canada stores and online. Taskers can help IKEA customers with furniture assembly in their homes within a day after purchase. To book a Tasker in the Greater Toronto Area, visit www.taskrabbit.ca or download the TaskRabbit app from the App Store. After providing a few details, a client can easily hire a Tasker at his/her preferred date and time.
