Sydney Tools To Expand Store Network

Sydney Tools Pty Ltd, a family-owned Australian company, has confirmed it is on-track to open 10 new stores in 2020.

Sydney Tools was founded in 2001 and currently operates through Sydney Tools online and in 34 stores across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and in the Australian Capital Territory.

The company is the second-largest wholesaler and retailer for industrial tools, consumables and accessories in Australia, stocking products from brands such as Milwaukee, Makita, Dewalt, Hikoki, Festool, Paslode, Ramset, Husqvarna, Stanley, Fein, UniMig and Cigweld.

Furthermore, the retailer offers a servicing and repair service for the major brands stocked by the business, with 21 workshops within its store network and head office.

Jason Bey, Sydney Tools' director, said: "As mooted in 2019, we're on target to have 70 stores opened within the next five years, employing more than 1000 people nationwide.

“While our online sales are growing rapidly, more than 94 per cent of our revenue has been generated through our bricks-and-mortar retail outlets.

“Customers like to see and review the product first hand, which is allowing us to expand in a way counter to most retailers. You can say we’re a bright spot in a struggling retail economy.”

The retailer is looking to open five new branches in Queensland (including sites in Kunda Park, Carrara and Townsville), one in New South Wales (Coffs Harbour) and one in Victoria (Caroline Springs, Melbourne).  Further stores are planned for Western Australia (Malaga, Perth), Northern Territory (Winnellie, Darwin) and South Australia (Windsor Gardens).

The new stores will add approximately 20,000 sqm of leased retail space to the existing 60,000 sqm.
