St Austell Homebase at risk of closure
Workers at the St Austell branch of Homebase face an uncertain future after the company announced it plans to close the store.
Homebase says it has entered into a consultation period with staff at the store on Southborne Road, but refused to say any more due to what it describes as "commercial sensitivities."
A company spokesman said: "Homebase can confirm that the business has entered a period of consultation with colleagues concerning the proposed closure of our store in St Austell.
"Colleagues at the store have been informed and we will be working with them over the next few weeks to support them as much as possible.
"Due to commercial sensitivities, we are unable to comment further at this time."
Parent company Home Retail Group owns around 300 Homebase outlets.
In 2012 it announced plans to close 40 over five years when their leases ran out.
