Springboard: Retail Footfall Flat Last Week
Springboard has reported on retail footfall for week 26, advising that footfall remained flat, with variations across the UK, replicating normal trading conditions - if it weren't for the gap from the 2019 level.
High Street - Week 26 2021
2021 vs 2020: +60.0%
2021 vs 2019: -34.9%
Week on week: -0.4%
To ensure its insights are as relevant as possible Springboard has introduced a year-on-year 2021 vs 2019 comparison for footfall.
Diane Wehrle, Springboard's Marketing and Insights Director, said:
"As we edge towards the end of restrictions footfall across UK retail destinations last week, in what was the last week of June, was flat from the week before.
With a modest variation in performance across the UK and only a marginal drop in footfall in regional cities, it would be easy to regard last week as normal trading conditions if it weren't for the fact that footfall continues to remain substantially below the 2019 level."
