Springboard has published retail footfall data for week 38 (18/09 - 24/09) noting that there was a significant drop in footfall, influenced by bank holiday Monday.

Springboard Shopping Centre Index - Week 38 2022

2022 vs 2021 = -0.5%

2022 vs 2019 = -23.3%

Week-on-week = -7.8%

Springboard's Marketing and Insights Director, Diane Wehrle, said:

Footfall across UK retail destinations declined last week from the before, driven by a decline in all destinations.

The overall result for the week was heavily influenced by a significant drop in footfall on bank holiday Monday, however, it was followed by a slightly stronger performance from Tuesday onwards.

Footfall declined from the previous week in all of the various town types; in Central London and city centres around the UK – which recorded the greatest uplift in the week before last – footfall declined. In other types of town, footfall also declined from the previous week.
