Shurtape UK Announces Charity Partner

Shurtape Charity

Shurtape UK has announced its charity partner for the next 12 months – donating £7,500 towards a beautiful garden space for cancer and stroke patients at the Eden Ward of the Wexham Park Hospital Frimley Health Foundation NHS Trust.

The global tape manufacturer has also made a financial commitment of £1000 towards the ongoing maintenance costs of the garden and will provide employee volunteers to help with its creation and upkeep.

NHS Complementary Therapist Michele Martin of Wexham Park Hospital has driven the project to help support patients during their hospital stay. Shurtape agreed to get involved after its MD, Colin Gadd, met Michele through their business network.

Colin and his team pledged financial and marketing support to provide to help fund the creation of the patient sanctuary in an emotional meeting, which was filmed as part of BBC One’s “One Day That Changed My Life” and aired on the BBC in July.

The crew of the factual daytime programme followed Michele and her colleagues on their journey as they first welcomed Colin to the hospital, then went to meet him to at Shurtape’s Hemel Hempstead offices to discuss their potential partnership.

Says Michele: “We are just so grateful for Shurtape’s generous contribution. We forgot the cameras were there most of the time, as we got so involved in our discussions about how the patients would benefit and how Shurtape could help.”

Colin adds: “This is a cause close to hearts of many of our team and customers, lots of whom live close to the hospital. We had been looking for the right charity partner for the business and Michele’s passion for her patients’ care won us over.  We’ll provide the initial cash sum of £7,500 and also commit to fundraising and marketing activities across the business, to support and help the hospital as it builds its new centre.”

The centre will be officially opened in September.
