Second Scottish Store For Flooring Superstore
A fast-growing retailer is preparing to open its second store in Scotland, with Glasgow the location for a 7,265 square foot outlet.
Flooring Superstore has invested £200,000 in the new store on the city’s Baird Street Business Park.
When it opens its doors this Saturday (7th August), it will become the 16th store launched by Flooring Superstore in the UK since non-essential retail was permitted to resume trading in April. It will also be one of the largest.
The retailer opened its first Scottish store in Edinburgh back in 2018.
Flooring Superstore Regional Manager Greig Anderson said: “We have been planning a store in Glasgow for a while but have been waiting for the right location as we wanted a large unit on a busy retail park.
“We were therefore delighted when the site at Baird Street became available and now, we’re looking forward to opening and making our contribution to the city’s economy.”
Flooring Superstore’s store openings are coming at a rapid pace. So far in 2021, the retailer has launched stores in Huddersfield, Doncaster, Newcastle, Norwich, Lincoln, Hull, Orpington, Basingstoke, Carlisle, Reading, Catford, Kidderminster, Plymouth, Preston, and Cheltenham.
Glasgow takes the total number of outlets in the Flooring Superstore portfolio to 38 and the retailer is well on course to reach its target of 50 stores by the end of 2021.
Shoppers visiting Flooring Superstore in Glasgow will have access to a wide range of flooring such as carpets, vinyl, laminate, real wood, luxury vinyl tiles, EvoCore and the UK’s largest selection of artificial grass.
Greig added: “We are in a unique position of being able to supply every type of flooring under one roof and to be able offer this at online prices, reflecting our origins as an e-commerce retailer.
“It’s hard to believe that less than ten years ago you could only buy our products online but now people can now also do this at 38 locations across the UK.
“Scotland is a key growth area for us so now having opened stores in Scotland’s two main cities, we are already actively looking at other locations across the rest of the country.”
As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, Flooring Superstore will be reaching out to local charities, voluntary organisations, or other good causes to see if they would benefit from donations of flooring for a particular project.
Greig said: “We feel it’s important to support the communities which support us by shopping at our stores, so we are looking forward to hearing from those who may benefit in the Glasgow area, whether it’s a charity, school or another organisation.”
Donation requests can be emailed to marketing@connectionretail.co.uk
To mark the opening, Flooring Superstore is also running a free, instore ‘Golden Ticket’ promotion. Anyone who comes into the store, regardless of whether they are buying flooring or not, will be invited to take one of 150 tickets. 145 of these tickets will have 15% off flooring, four will give people £250 to spend in-store and one golden ticket will give a lucky person £1,000 to spend on flooring ranges of their choice.
