Screwfix now delivering to 20 EU countries

Consumers across Europe now have the opportunity to order from a choice of over 15,000 Screwfix products online and have them delivered to their homes or workplaces in five to seven working days.

Screwfix now offers deliveries to the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

Delivery is charged at a flat rate of £20 for orders of less than £100, however orders above this value qualify for free shipping.

To access the service, both new and existing customers need to register on the Screwfix Europe website, via a link on Screwfix.com.

At the time of writing, Screwfix was not offering delivery to the following EU areas: Azores, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Channel Islands, Corsica, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Madeira, Romania, Sicily or Sardinia, nor was it able to deliver goods to BFPO or PO Boxes.

The Screwfix website states that returns via a carrier pick-up service are possible for faulty, damaged or unwanted items, and will attract a charge of up to £20 depending on the circumstances.

Expanding delivery across the EU is likely to be Kingfisher’s way of testing the waters of the European market for Screwfix, and comes just a few months after departing COO, Euan Sutherland, discussed the potential of expansion into France.

During a media and analyst conference in October 2012 at Screwfix’s huge Stoke-on-Trent distribution centre, Sutherland said: "It could sit pretty well in the French market. The Screwfix model's quite unique and I don't see it replicated anywhere else in Europe, so there's potential to take it out there."

"The French trade market's a bit different from the UK trade market so we need to understand a bit more about how that works," he added.
