Sainsbury's to cut 400 jobs
Sainsbury's is to cut nearly 400 store jobs by removing the role of price controller.
The role involved checking the accuracy of pricing on store shelves; a task which Sainsbury's says will be absorbed into the roles of other store workers.
Staff affected by the decision have been placed into consultation, a process which will last 45 days. At the end of the period, staff will be made redundant or offered other roles within the company.
Furthermore, Sainsbury's is to remove night shifts at around 140 stores, which will force around 4,000 members of staff to alter their shift patterns
A Sainsbury's spokesperson said: “We regularly review our business to ensure we’re operating as efficiently and effectively as possible and our resources are in the right place, so that we can provide our customers with the best possible service.
“Following a recent review, we are making some changes to administrative roles and night-shift patterns, subject to consultation.
“We appreciate this will be a difficult time for those colleagues affected by the changes and will support them in any way we can.”
