Commenting on the research, Chris King, head of home insurance at comparethemarket.com, says: “If you’re planning on upgrading your home and garden furnishings over the coming weeks and months, it’s important to check the details of your home insurance to see if it covers your new items. Homeowners and renters might not be aware that their home contents insurance could cover their garden furniture too and should check their policy to make sure they have the right level of cover in case an issue arises.”
