Praxis to Open Five New Stores
Praxis, the leading DIY retailer in the Netherlands, is to open five new stores this month.
The new stores have been converted from Formido - also owned by Maxeda - branches in Albrandsaard, Oosterwolde, Oudenbosch, Stiens and Urk. Twenty-three Formido branches have been converted so far and Maxeda plans for forty in total.
They will bring the total number of branches to 171, which means that the company has overtaken one of its key competitors: Gamma, which has 166 branches in the region.
In terms of floor space, at the start of the year, Maxeda - Praxis' parent company - operated stores with over 583,000 m2 of space, more than any other DIY retailer in the country. The average Praxis store is 3,500 m2 and offers approximately 35,000 products.
Praxis also intends to continue to open small-format city stores and plans for the tenth store to open next year. Joost de Beijer, general manager of Praxis, said: "We see that Praxis City meets the wishes of local residents."
Praxis updated its transactional website during 2017, offering an improved customer experience with faster checkout. Mr de Beijer said: "Since the go-live, the number of visitors and the number of conversions has increased exponentially".
